Hi everyone, another month is quickly coming to an end and I’m just catching up on my blog now! For starters, hope everyone on the east coast is safe and sound…thank you everyone who has reached out to me. I am thankfully okay and have not faced any hardships (I still have power which gives me an opportunity to catch up on my blog now)! My prayers go out to those who are in need.
This month I was away for about a week in Arizona to visit my fabulous aunt to see Madonna in Phoenix for her MDNA Tour. It was my third time seeing Madonna in concert and boy does she know how to put on a show! I admire her greatly and will continue to support her!
With my aunt before the Madonna concert. I decided to wear all black, specifically a black sequin crop top for a little bling. I’m wearing purple lipstick…MAC Violetta, love it for the fall and especially for big events!
I love this image of Madonna. Anyone who says she still doesn’t have it going on may need their eyes examined! Seriously, watching her show made me think that there is NO EXCUSE for anyone (especially someone my age) to not be in shape…she’s got over 20 years on me and still looks HOT. Can we say #fitnessinspiration ?!

This past weekend, my wonderful boyfriend took me to a Pumpkin Carve event in Pennsylvania. It was amazing to see all the artistic pumpkin carvings contributed throughout the community!
I really appreciate art in all forms. This is amazing, I love talent when I see it!

I also went to a Halloween party over the weekend before the hurricane hit New Jersey! Last year at this time of year we were faced with a tremendous amount of snow which prevented me to celebrate Halloween this year but I made up for it this year!
I kept the makeup festive with red lipstick and double stacked lashes, one pair had red feathers on the end (purchased at Claire’s) which added a nice stylish touch. I could have gone crazier with the makeup and make it more theatrical but at the end of the day, I want to look beautiful so it’s still more of a beauty look rather than too avant garde. Plus the headpiece is more of the focal point so I didn’t want the makeup to be too conflicting and ostentatious.
In case you are wondering, I’m dressed up as the Queen of Hearts. I literally put together this costume the day before and in less than an hour before the party. This was the FIRST year I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to be! (FYI, I typically know a year in advance what I want to dress up as, so this was a very last minute decision on my part). I created the headpiece myself. I took a devils horn headband…ripped off one of the horns and left the other horn as a back holder for the cards. Using a glue gun, I glued the four queen cards together and then to the back of the horn. I guess queens typically wear crowns, but I wanted to emphasize I was the Queen of Hearts, not just any old queen! ;)

Although I subscribe to a ton of magazines (too many to keep up with on a monthly basis..it’s bad enough I can’t keep up with my blog these days let along sitting back and getting lost in a magazine), my all time favorite fashion publication has ALWAYS been Harper’s Bazaar. As an artist, I’m a visual creature by nature so besides the brilliant content and extraordinary images, I’m in complete awe of the creativity that goes behind the layout of their magazine. I know that may sound absolutely absurd but seriously, at the end of the day, they need to capture my visual interest!
I can’t even remember how long ago, but I had applied to be in their Style Ambassador’s program (I had to submit some photos of myself, general info, and a link to my blog) and pleasantly found this email in my inbox a few days ago welcoming me to the program:

[Does anyone else obsessed with Harper's Bazaar?]
I always love a good fragrance and have always believed a person with impeccable style should also have impeccable taste in fragrance. They go hand in hand. This time of year, I LOVE to wear Thierry Mugler’s “Angel.” This is nothing new and has actually been out for 20 years now (1992 to be exact in case you couldn’t figure out the math, was the year this fragrance was first launched). I probably didn’t discover it until much later in the late 90′s.
This is one of the few fragrances in which I describe that I could literally swim in it. It’s also one of the few fragrances that I can actually detect a mile away because it’s so distinct and just so special. I find most people have a love or hate relationship with “Angel” as it’s a very strong, dominating scent which is not for everyone. I’m all about it though, I like a distinctive and powerful scent with a hint of sweetness. This scent possesses vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and fruity notes. Ahh, it’s quite heavenly as one could assume just by the name of it! ;)

Okay so this is the first time since the creation of my Style by Meli blog that I took such a long leave of absence. In the month of September, I was pretty much MIA. Reason being as I had stated in the beginning of the month, that I was in the process of creating a brand new blog. I didn’t give too much information as to what it was about other than that it was makeup related.
I put a lot of time last month towards the new blog and although it’s still in its early stages, I’m ready to share with everyone the new blog…

Say hello to Lipstick Look Book!!! I wanted to create a blog dedicated to lipstick, not only because I have quite a beauty addiction to it, but also because I find there are many people just as passionate about lipstick but may be a little clueless about the subject matter. This blog will provide daily lipstick reviews (along with video blogs) and share creative ways I like to re-vamp the color. I also share at the end of each post a product list of everything I used to create the look for that day. Besides lipstick reviews, I also contribute additional articles related to lipstick and makeup generally speaking.
I am incredibly thankful for all the loyalty that comes with this blog and hope to carry it over to this new project. Back in February I wrote about post regarding NARS Sheer Glow foundation and since then I have also tried a few others. However, at the end of the day, I’m still in love with NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I realized that I should have matched myself a few shades darker being that their color system starts off really light (making it a great choice for lighter complexions). Keep in mind they also carry a full range of colors that are suitable for darker skintones.
Not only do I love the look of sheer glow, but it’s unbelievable how many compliments I get on my skin and overall makeup in general. (Trust me, my skin is not that perfect to begin with, I have been dealing with breakouts for the past couple years from hormonal imbalances. I am very thankful for this foundation and I guess take some partial credit for being a really good makeup artist too of course! ;)).
Currently, I’m wearing NARS Sheer Glow in the shade Punjab.

Here’s a look at what I’m inspired by this month…
* metallic denim - Denim is no longer just a basic blue and you can find all kinds of variations including vibrant colors and funky prints. Moving into the new season, I really like seeing denim with a metallic finish, especially gold which always looks great with classic black.
* dark lips - I have always loved the look of dark lips against fair skin. Fall is the perfect time to start rocking this trend.
* shades of plum - Vintage grape and wine shades are totally making a comeback both on the fashion front and in makeup.
* envelope clutch - Oversized envelope styled bags are a small and chic way to hold all your essentials. When they feature a strap, it’s an added bonus.
* ankle wrap heels - I especially like the look with the peep toe, it shows a lot of skin while the ankle strap holds you in for a little bit of extra comfort.
* 40′s inspired fashion - Many fall runways were inspired by the vintage elegance of the 1940′s which included classic styles mixed with a little drama.
