Happy Halloween everyone!  I realize not all my readers celebrate the holiday but thought it would be nice to put together a collage of different Halloween nail designs that I discovered on Pinterest that I really liked.  They are creative and inspirational, hope you enjoy my Halloween picks!

I especially love all the designs with the glitter. It isn’t a true holiday without that extra sparkle! ;)

Wet ‘N Wild Comes Out with Saved by the Bell Nail Polish Collection – (Like I’m Totally Not Kidding)!

Posted in NAILS, PRODUCTS I LOVE on August 16, 2012 by stylebymeli

After just writing about The Spice Girls, I couldn’t help but further take a path down memory lane and move onto another 90′s sensation:  Saved by the Bell.  Wet ‘N Wild just recently came out with a Saved by the Bell limited edition nail polish collection featuring garishly hip neon shades that are sure to grab some attention.

Best of all, they are cleverly named after the cast:

Fashionista Lisa (purple), Pin ‘Em Slater (yellow), Nerd Alert: Screech (green), Chick Magnet Zack (Blue), Straight A Jesse (orange) and Pom Pom Kelly (pink).

Oh, and they’re .99 cents at most drugstores!  Can’t beat that!

Finally…A Chip Free Manicure – Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat

Posted in BEAUTY TREATMENT, NAILS, PRODUCTS I LOVE with tags , , on August 8, 2012 by stylebymeli

I ran out of a nail base coat a couple months ago and figured I could use a top coat as a base coat or even a clear nail polish.  It turned out, that it wasn’t really working so I decided to find a base coat and came across Sally Hansen’s Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat while I was at a drugstore.

Typically, I don’t like the idea of having a two-in-one nail product, but couldn’t really find one that was a base coat only.

This is stuff is beyond amazing.  For the first time ever, I’ve noticed a substantial difference in the staying power of a manicure (when I do it myself).  I used a single coat as a base and then after a few minutes, applied two coats of a nail polish followed by this polish as a top coat.  My current manicure has not chipped at all and it’s been exactly a week!

I know that it’s the Sally Hansen base/top coat that is making a difference because the nail polish color I used (Orly’s “Cotton Candy”FYI I’m obsessed with this shade), I had used it a few weeks ago without this product and it chipped within a couple days.  The manicure was pretty much destroyed (I could peel the polish right off myself) in less than five days.  I thought it was because the Orly polish was poor quality but it was because I didn’t have the right base coat!

[Does anyone else have a base/top coat that they recommend?]

Essie “Tart Deco” Nail Polish – My Spring/Summer Color (Kinda Obsessed…)

Posted in MANICURE OF THE MONTH, NAILS, PRODUCTS I LOVE, SHOPPING with tags , , , , , , , , on April 18, 2012 by stylebymeli

When it comes to nail polish colors, I’m incredibly picky.  I can honestly stare at countless nail polish bottles, yet leave completely empty handed.  I don’t know why, but it happens to me all the time.

For the longest time, I have ALWAYS been attracted to the color “Tart Deco” by Essie.  For whatever reason, no matter where I go (either at a nail salon or at beauty store), I somehow manage to pick it up, but never followed through with actually trying it out until over the weekend.  I ended up choosing this shade for my manicure.  (If you’re wondering what I ended up with my pedicure, I chose Opi “Hot and Spicy,” which eh, wasn’t left impressed.  Not bright enough for my liking, but it was worth a try)!

I don’t know what held me back all these times, but the color is absolutely, amazingly BEAUTIFUL!!!  It is the perfect light, bright coral that I have been looking for, especially for this time of year.  The brightness contrasts nicely against my fair skin, but I think people with bronzy complexions can also rock this out just as well.

Being newly obsessed with the color, I googled it to find that this shade was launched back in 2010 from a collection called, “Art of Spring.”  Although it is a couple years old, I find that this color is still totally on trend from a fashion perspective.  Pops of bright color, especially in orange hues are making a color comeback.  (And I’m loving it right now!)

March Giveaway Alert and Things I’m Looking Forward to Along with New Makeup Feature (With Your Contribution)!

Posted in GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUCEMENTS, GIVEAWAYS, JEWELRY, MADONNA, MAKE-UP, NAILS, STYLE BY MELI GIVEAWAYS on March 1, 2012 by stylebymeli

For starters, I’m looking forward to the upcoming spring season and ready to pack my winter clothes away so I can start wearing bright colors because this spring, bold bright colors are everywhere!  Shoes, accessories, clothes, makeup, you name it!

For any Madonna fans out there, her new album is expected to launch at the end of the month (March 26th to be exact, that’s what I heard so far) and I’m ecstatic!  Besides being my all time favorite artist, she is one of the few people that I will actually go and buy her CD on opening day.  (Her and Britney Spears.  Other than that, I don’t really buy CD’s anymore)!  I thought it would be cool to share a single from her upcoming album here:

On top of that, tickets for her upcoming tour this year have already started to go on sale and I’m going to be seeing her in Phoenix, Arizona with my wonderful aunt in October!  We are going to have a blast, I cannot wait!  I’m also excited to plan another trip out to Arizona this year!!!

Here's the album cover of her 12th studio album to launch on March 26th. I love it!

Anyhow, enough about that, let’s get back to fashion and makeup. ;)  So I am always thinking of new ideas and features that will most benefit my readers.  I thought it would be cool to have a feature where I’m given a makeup image (from a current magazine ad, a look that a celebrity is wearing, etc.) and then I’ll re-create the look and explain the products I used.

For this month, I’m going to incorporate it as a way to enter this month’s giveaway.  This month, I want people to send me images of makeup they really like or something they’d always want to do themselves but just don’t know how to go about it and send it my way!  I will choose one look to be re-created and post it on my blog at the end of the month!
