[Home Decor Updates] – Stylish New Photo Frames, New Kitchen Rug, and “Stormy Monday” Accent Wall

These frames add some color to my dining area and I love the pretty patterns. I was inspired by a recent visit at an Indian restaurant in Hoboken, NJ.

Towards the beginning of the month, I had mentioned that I would blog more often about home decor so I thought it would be nice to share some recent home decor updates in my home.

Last weekend, I put up these beautiful Indian style photo frames.  I had purchased them from Home Goods a couple months ago and just finally got a chance to put them up.

I finally found a rug for the kitchen! I had been looking for one for months. Because the kitchen is so small and kind of plain, I thought a rug would give it more style and visually centralize the room.

I like the design of the rug as it's simple and compliments the red clock and other red accents within the kitchen.

In July, I had a friend come over and help me paint this accent wall. It's a grey color (originally the wall was white). I love the color and love the contrast it has created against the white door and white mirror frame.

In case you are wondering, here is a closer look at the paint swatch that I had chosen.

It is called, “Stormy Monday” but Benjamin Moore.  I used 2 coats of paint.

August Giveaway Alert, More Home Decor, and a New Season of Project Runway

Welcome back everyone and cheers to the beginning of a new month.  This is a very busy month for me so I don’t know how often I’ll be able to blog, but I can promise you that I am dedicated to providing new material and sharing my love for style/makeup with the free time that I have!  Thanks for your consistent loyalty and if you’re new, a warm welcome as always!

This weekend, I will be throwing my first makeup launch party featuring a fall collection I created myself.  By that I mean, I created the shades (using GIELLA custom blend cosmetics) and came up with the names for each product.  It will feature lip glosses, lipsticks, and nail polishes.  I’m very excited to share the collection and will be posting photos from the event along with the products I created!  Very exciting!

I don’t have any new features this month, although I will be sharing more blogs regarding home decor (as this is another passion of mine) and possibly more about health/fitness (as I’m really into this too and this goes hand-in-hand with beauty in my opinion).

Speaking of home decor, I wanted to share this beautiful piece I picked up at HomeGoods yesterday for my bedroom:

I have the perfect spot for this to go too and a space I’ve been waiting to fill for quite some time, was just waiting on the right piece!  She kind of looks like me too!  Arched brows, full lips, almond eyes, side swept bangs…the only difference is, I never throw my hair up like that.  I guess for the right occasion I would!

Also, for all you Project Runway fans out there…a new season officially started last week and sadly, I have yet to watch it!  I haven’t had the free time to watch, but when I do, I plan on blogging about it every week!

In Love with Diane von Furstenberg’s Home Decor…

I know many people are familiar with Diane von Furstenberg as a legendary fashion designer and style icon, but has anyone taken the time to check out her home decor?!

I am in love with her design aesthetic and find ads for her home collections in all my decor magazines.  As I have mentioned in previous blogs, I have a deep appreciation for home decor and interior decorating.  I really think the home is a reflection of your lifestyle and should represent your style in some way.

Even DVF says, “My surroundings reflect who I am.”
(I couldn’t agree more!)

Here is a taste of what her dining collection is all about, look at this really abstract plate from her collection.  It looks like a work of art!  It’s stunning.

My Secret to Feeling Like Sleeping Beauty (with Skin Benefits too)!

Here is a recent photo of my bedroom..I'm very excited to get some beauty sleep tonight...new satin sheets! Read on for the beauty perks!

I just recently ordered a set of satin sheets/pillowcases for my bed and set them up today!  Very excited as they are soft and have an exquisite feel to them (over my basic cotton ones)!  On top of that, I have read in various sources that it’s not only good to invest in satin pillowcases for the feel, but ALSO it’s very good for your skin!

Let me further explain, being that the texture is softer, I’ve read that it will actually prevent wrinkles more than cotton sheets, which can over time enhance the formation of creases on the skin. I know to some this may seem pretty crazy, but to me, it makes a lot of sense!  Regardless, I love them for the feel, but knowing it’s going to prevent wrinkles over time allows me to really feel like I’m getting my “beauty sleep.”

Fashion Magazine Ads as Home Decor – Ideas for Adding Some Style into Your Home

Besides having an unlimited passion for fashion and makeup, I am also heavily obsessed with decorating and bringing a sense of style in my home.

For me, having style is not just about having the most fashionable clothes, it is a lifestyle and should be incorporated in all areas of life.  Hence why my quote is, “Life is meant to be stylish.”

I have been collecting Madonna’s Dolce and Gabbana advertisements from fashion magazines and finally have gotten an opportunity to frame them and hang them on the walls in my bedroom.

I absolutely LOVE Madonna (her drive, music, lyrics, and pretty much everything about her) and thought it would be great to frame these ads as a tribute to her.  They are also beautiful advertisements!

[Speaking of Madonna, I also plan on creating a Madonna inspiration page with my favorite quotes and lyrics from her in the near future!  Will keep you posted once I work on this in the new year].

If you’re interested in doing the same thing with your favorite fashion magazine ads, just gently pull the the ads out of the magazine and purchase some 11″ x 14″ frames.  Ideally ones that come with a matte border.  It is a great way to show your love for style and making your home look tres chic!
