[Style Inspiration Board] – September 2012

Here’s a look at what I’m inspired by this month…

* metallic denim - Denim is no longer just a basic blue and you can find all kinds of variations including vibrant colors and funky prints.  Moving into the new season, I really like seeing denim with a metallic finish, especially gold which always looks great with classic black.

* dark lips - I have always loved the look of dark lips against fair skin.  Fall is the perfect time to start rocking this trend.

* shades of plum - Vintage grape and wine shades are totally making a comeback both on the fashion front and in makeup.

* envelope clutch - Oversized envelope styled bags are a small and chic way to hold all your essentials.  When they feature a strap, it’s an added bonus.  

* ankle wrap heels - I especially like the look with the peep toe, it shows a lot of skin while the ankle strap holds you in for a little bit of extra comfort.  

* 40′s inspired fashion - Many fall runways were inspired by the vintage elegance of the 1940′s which included classic styles mixed with a little drama.

Fall 2012 Color Trend Report – Pantone’s Top 10 Hottest Shades

Although choosing colors is always a personal preference and should be a reflection of your style and taste, it’s still always great to know what colors are currently “in” if you are looking to keep up with the trends and modernize your current look.  I wanted to share the hottest shades for Fall 2012 which Pantone, the global color authority had published a few months back.  They determine their color selection by surveying fashion designers during fashion week.  

I’m thrilled to see such an eclectic color palette with so many pretty colors to choose from!

Hi everyone, it’s hard to believe that the first month of the new year is over.  Which brings us to the month of February with a lot to look forward to.  For starters, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is coming up and I plan on sharing the upcoming trends for fall/winter 2012.  

Jason Wu’s collection for Target will be launched in a few days (more to be shared in an upcoming post) and Valentine’s Day is just weeks away in which I’ll be creating a style post showcasing some hot looks. 

[New Feature Alert] – I’m always thinking of new ideas for my blog and I thought it would be a good idea to contribute makeup posts focusing on a makeup trend with how to wear it.  It will hopefully inspire new ways for people to change up their makeup along with a creative outlet for me to design new innovative looks.  

PS- I also made it easier for people to become a Facebook fan.  If you look at the right column, there is a box with a “like” button.  My fan page updates readers of my newest posts along with makeup look books.  Be sure to become a fan if you have not already done so! ;)

An Inside Look Behind Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week…

It seriously feels like forever since my last blog, (no I have not fallen off the face of the blog world, I honestly just have not been home or by a computer to write a post).  However…I do have a very exciting post to share today!

 

I'm at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week!

This past Thursday, February 10th, I attended a fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City! It was VERY exciting as this was the first time I had attended Fashion Week to watch a show, rather than help backstage.  The best part was it was for Project Runway designer Irina Shabayeva!  She was the winner of Season 6 and is one of my ALL-TIME favorite designers from the ENTIRE series of Project Runway.

I absolutely LOVE her design aesthetic.  I would wear any of her clothing in a heart beat. Her clothing is very feminine and very strong all at the same time.  I always love a mix of soft and edgy pieces.  Here is a look at some of the pieces from her Fall 2011 collection that was featured in Edge magazine:

Irina Shabayeva modeling her own designs - Absolutely stunning, I love the cut-outs, silhouettes, and the intricacy of her work.

So moving onto the show, it was AMAZING!  I always get chills watching a fabulous runway show on Project Runway, so you can only imagine what it felt like to actually experience being at a live show! Here are some photos from Irina Shabayeva’s fashion show showcasing her Fall 2011 collection…
