[Outfit Post] with a Sparkly Nude Dress, Jeffrey Campbell Gold Unicorn Heels, and Festive Jewelry…A Glamourous Holiday Look
For starters, I hope everyone is having a wonderful month! I greatly apologize for my absence (don’t worry, it’s only temporary)! Anyhow, I wanted to share a look I captured from this past weekend. I wore this to a Christmas party.
I love the holiday season as it gives me an opportunity to dress up more and I can be much more experimental with my style.
About This Outfit:
[The Outfit]: I am wearing a sparkly mini dress from H&M. (H&M, who would ever think?) To be completely honest, I don’t shop there. I’m not a fan of the quality of most their clothing and they really don’t fit me too well. I find that their clothes are not built for curvy women. The store is very hit-or-miss so I don’t even bother shopping there. Surprisingly, I bought this dress off a friend of mine who was trying to sell it to Beacon’s Closet but they didn’t take it. Oh well, their loss, NOT MINE! ;) I LOVE the dress except the silver sparkles/glitter sheds! (This is what I mean by their stuff not being top notch in the quality department).
[Styling Confession]: This dress was actually MUCH longer, but anyone who knows my style, knows that any dress or skirt I own has to hit above the knee. [Why? Showing more leg will actually visually make the appearance of the legs look much longer (let's not forget I am only 5'1"...but I guess you would never know by all the high heels I wear ;)!]
The shoes are Jeffrey Campbell and were recently featured in my [Style Vault]. I was SO VERY excited to finally rock these!
[Where to wear this outfit]: This is definitely a party look. It’s fun, fancy, and fabulous…all at the same time!
[Stylish Notes]:
- I really had NO intentions to wear this dress with black tights, but being that my tailor hemmed this dress a little TOO SHORT, I didn’t really have a choice in the matter. In a styling situation like this, wearing black tights is the perfect solution. This way you don’t feel like you’re half naked (DEFINITELY NOT what I was going for) and you can manage to wear the dress in a tasteful manner.
- Surprisingly, I actually ended up liking the black tights paired with this dress as it created a high contrast against the nude dress. My styling aesthetic is all about creating the perfect contrast.
- I absolutely love the ruching effect down the sides of the sleeves and in the center towards the top of this dress. It’s just an extra styling detail that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Closer look at my jewelry. I am wearing my gold plated "Meli" necklace, a cocktail ring, and I stacked two beautiful bracelets: a vintage white beaded one that my mother owned and a Guess green jeweled bracelet. They look great together and the green adds just a little pop of color.
- I’m also all about sparkles for the holiday season. I mean of course you can wear sparkly stuff year-round, but I personally like to save it for the holidays and special occasions.
In case you wanted to take a closer look at my hair (it’s actually styled!)and makeup…

I had my hair curled (wish I could say I did it myself, but I can't style hair whatsoever. All I did was throw it half-up once I got home). With makeup, it took me awhile to figure out how to coordinate it with the outfit. I really wanted to wear a red lip with this, but I felt I would run the risk of looking over-styled (sparkly dress, gold shoes, curly hair, and then a red lip?! It's like, "Whoa Meli, let's take down the style down a notch, no?!") Hence I went a little smokey with the eyes and a bright baby pink lip (MAC "Saint Germain" lipstick). I couldn't ask for a better styling outcome.
[Thanks for viewing! Thoughts?]
